🔴 BonkDAO Loses $20M in Governance Attack
BonkDAO lost approximately $20M after a malicious governance proposal was approved.
What happened:
• The attacker bought around $4M worth of BONK to gain enough voting power.
• They submitted a proposal to transfer the DAO treasury to a wallet they controlled.
• The proposal passed, allowing roughly $20M in BONK to be transferred.
This was not a smart contract exploit or protocol hack. The attacker abused the DAO’s governance system to execute the treasury transfer.
The stolen funds have been traced to crypto exchanges, and Upbit has suspended BONK deposits and withdrawals.
